Mission Organization….yea right

A little background on our family’s living situation for you: we travel. My hubby is an Electrical Engineer in the field. This means that he works onsite at his current project. Well, projects don’t last forever so he moves every two-ish years. The boys and I normally go and visit him for two-four weeks at a time, but the bulk of our living is at our home in WI. For this project, the boys and I have stayed with the hubs in TN. Long story short: we travel.

I have a craftroom at our house in WI. Here in TN I have a tiny space in an extra bedroom. Not that I am complaining! I am blessed to have a home let alone designated space just for me. I “collect” crafty things and it would be impossible for me to travel with all of it. It’s also impossible for us to know where we’ll go next or what kind of space I’ll be able to have there. My answer? Organization, baby!!

This is a genius idea, no? Well, it would be for someone who is not so LAME at the organization game. I can totally organize someone else. Totally and completely. With myself/my house I am wicked OCD and a perfectionist. Not the cool OCD where your house is spotless and everything is hyper-organized. Not the good perfectionism where you get everything “just so”. Yea, not so much. I am one of the lucky ones that NEEDS everything to be PERFECT, but when I see that it’s not happening…I shut down and quit. This is such a struggle for me! I am improving, though.

I do still just come to a standstill when I see that it’s not turning out exactly as I see it in my head. HOWEVER! I have gotten to the point where I can at least maintain, for the most part, that level where I stall. And then I keep hacking away at and knock it out bit by (painful little teeny tiny minuscule) bit. Where was I going with this? Ugh.

OH! Right. Organization. So, I’ve been working on organizing my craftroom. I think I would like to get the Expedit Workstation from IKEA. The workstation is smaller than attaching the desk to the bookcase as it’s two columns of cubes smaller. I believe this would work in pretty much any room designated for me. If not it could go somewhere for sure! Right now I have a huge cutting table that I am using for my desk. It’s awesome because it’s such a big worksurface, but there isn’t really room for shelving because I have it opened all the way. It’s one of those that the two sides fold down for storage. Wicked cool freebie from my mother-in-law.

Anyhoo…that’s what’s up here the past two weeks. The bad part is that it’s interfering with my creative mojo. Big time! So I’ve been spending the time that I would normally use to create to hack away at the room and read about productivity and resistance.  ::gigglesnort::
